Near Denver and Colorado Springs, the world's highest cog train takes families to the 14110 foot summit of America's Mountain, Pikes Peak, Colorado

Considered the highest rack railway in the world, as well as the highest railway in North America, Pikes Peak Cog Railway offers train enthusiasts a unique opportunity to experience some of America's most breathtaking scenery.

Trains run from April to December for the general public, but private arrangements can be made for the off months, allowing train and nature lovers to experience Pikes Peak year-round.

• The song "America the Beautiful" was written about Pikes Peak by Katherine Lee Bates in 1893
• The top of the Peak is sometimes 30 degrees colder than at the station in Manitou, making the 1000 ft. ascent feel more like a 500 mile trip to the North.
