Day 1: Depart Chicago westbound on Amtrak's Southwest Chief.
Your adventure begins mid-afternoon, as you board Amtrak's Southwest Chief at Chicago's historic Union Station. Cross the mighty Mississippi River, briefly into Iowa, pass through Missouri, travel overnight through the plains of Kansas.
Day 2: Arrive Williams Junction Arizona.
The sunrises as you leave Kansas and travel through southern Colorado. Relax as you spend the day riding the rails through New Mexico and Arizona. Estimated arrival time in Williams Junction, Arizona is 10:33pm. A shuttle transfers you to the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel.
Day 3: Historic Grand Canyon Railway Train.
Wake-up early for a hearty breakfast buffet at Max & Thelma's Restaurant. Board the historic Grand Canyon Railway for a 10:00am departure northbound to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Arrive at the Grand Canyon Village and check into the Maswick Lodge. Next you will join up with the Freedom Tour of the Grand Canyon and enjoy a box-lunch while you overlook this Wonder of the World.
Day 4: On your own at the Grand Canyon.
Spend the morning on your own exploring the South Rim or join up with another guided tour. Board the Grand Canyon Railway southbound back to Williams and the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. Back at the hotel, you will have dinner at Max & Thelma's Restaurant.
Day 5: Early wake up and heading home.
Wake-up early and transfer to Williams Junction to catch Amtrak's Southwest Chief eastbound to Chicago.
Day 6: Arrive at Chicago's Union Station at 3:20pm.

Your Rails to the Rim adventure begins when you board Amtrak's Southwest Chief eastbound at approximately 6:45pm. Relax as the sunsets and you ride the rails to Williams Junction, Arizona.
Day 2: Early morning arrival at Williams Junction Arizona.
The Southwest Chief pulls into Williams Junction at 5:20am and you are transferred to the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. Check into the hotel for a few more hours of sleep. Freshen up and head to Max & Thelma's Restaurant for a hearty breakfast buffet. Board the historic Grand Canyon Railway for a 10:00am departure north bound to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Arrive at the Grand Canyon Village and check into the Maswick Lodge. Next you will join up with the Freedom Tour of the Grand Canyon and enjoy a box-lunch while you overlook this Wonder of the World.
